Frost French in Racist Pay Out

1 month ago 08th Jul 09:52

Sadie Frost and Jemima French's clothing company have been ordered to pay £5,000 in compensation to a former employee who accused them of being racist.

The fashion label were taken to an employment tribunal after Aba Yankah claimed she was sacked after just one day because of her race, reports marie claire.

The agency worker was employed as a sales assistant at the label's Burlington Arcade store but says she was sacked when the manager found out she was black.

The tribunal did not find any evidence of racism in the case but FrostFrench were ordered to pay out because they could not offer an explanation for Ms Yankah's dismissal

"FrostFrench is a multicultural company with a strong commitment to racial equality… FrostFrench won't appeal the decision and cannot comment further due to legalities," said a spokesperson for the label in a statement.

"I must stress that Sadie and Jemima are deeply upset that the FrostFrench label has been drawn into something like this," it added. "Both are huge campaigners for racial equality."
