The 22-year-old model has admitted the first time she came face to face with the 84-year-old fashion designer "three, four years ago", which was when she went to her "first fitting" for her debut Chanel catwalk show, she assumed she would meet the mogul during the session and was surprised to bump into the mogul beforehand when he was on his way to lunch with Anna Wintour.

Speaking to WWD about her encounter with the head creative director of the French fashion house, the blonde-haired beauty said: "I actually do remember the first time I met Karl. It was my first fitting for my first Chanel show that I got, and obviously you expect for Karl to be there in the fitting when you get there, but I wasn't quite prepared because the second I walked into the building Karl and Anna walk out together, going to lunch -- and I hadn't met either of them [yet]."

And the catwalk icon has revealed she felt she had to introduce herself to both Karl and Anna when they crossed paths, although she thought they wouldn't "care" who she was.

She continued: "So walking into that and just having to introduce myself like 'Hi, I'm Gigi, I don't know if you care.' [That was] three, four years ago."

Unlike Gigi, Lily Rose Depp met Karl at an early age and has admitted the star has been in her life "for many years".

Speaking previously, the model - who starred in her first campaign for the fashion house in 2015 - said: "I've known [Karl] since I was eight - he's definitely somebody who has been in my life since I was little. I definitely have a lot of Chanel memories growing up."

And Lily - who is the daughter of Johnny Depp and his former partner Vanessa Paradis - has hailed Karl for his innovative designs.

She said: "The amount of stuff that he comes up with...the amount of creativity in his head, that he creates each year and has created over his entire life, the different ideas he has had. He's really somebody who has managed to evolve but never stray from this level of artistry and precision. But at the same thing he's never done the same thing twice."
