The 36-year-old supermodel - who graced the catwalk at Maracanã Stadium for the Opening Ceremony of the Rio Olympics - was "part of" the creative process with the Brazilian creative mastermind on the bespoke gown she adorned for the event and felt confident to voice her requirements for the gown to Alexandre prior to the event.

Speaking about the design process and collaborating with the blonde beauty to Vogue.com, the 45-year-old said: "It was such a special reunion. We haven't spoken in a long time, and we mostly talked about our kids and life these days.

"Anyway, it was an indescribable and special experience - the whole process, the meetings, and the final presentation.

"Gisele knows exactly what looks good on her and what doesn't, which makes the job much more objective and accurate. She was always present in the process. She gave important opinions, and we thought about the parts together. She made some important changes. Part of my creative process and development is to listen and adjust creations so she is satisfied. This was the feeling of everyone here."

And the catwalk icon - who made her breakthrough in 1998 when she walked the runway in sky-high heels during Alexander McQueen's Spring/Summer ready-to-wear show - has revealed she was honoured to be a part of the sporting extravaganza.

The mother of two - who has daughter Vivian, three, and six-year-old son Benjamin with her husband Tom Brady - shared a picture of her gliding along the runway in the sequin floor-length gown with a thigh high split to her Instagram account.

Alongside the photograph, she wrote: "It was very exciting to be part of this special moment. Everyone involved worked with dedication and passion to create a show that gave the world a glimpse of our history and Brazil's essence. It was beautifully presented. Our Brazilian community is hard working, cheerful, and welcoming.I believe that we showed the world the beauty of our diversity. #gratitude#riocidademaravilhosa #rio2016 (sic)."
