Google and 22 year-old Cambridge-born designer Christian Cowan have teamed up to create the ‘Really Blue’ jeans.
The one-of-a-kind jeans celebrate the limited edition launch of the Pixel, Phone by Google in the colour Really Blue. The jeans combine Christian’s empowering and contradictory style with the Pixel’s stand out features.
The jeans have been designed to redefine industry standards with just one pocket to store the phone - the pocket stitched to fit the exact shape and size of the Pixel - instead of the usual five. Now your phone can do everything from capturing stunning photography, to helping you work on the go, to paying via your phone; all you need is your one Pixel-shaped pocket. The vibrant Really Blue colour of the jeans pays homage to the latest edition to the Pixel family.
Fresh off the runway at New York fashion week and designing looks for Miley Cyrus & Ariana Grande and more. Christian Cowan welcomed the challenge to recreate the world’s favourite staple fashion item by positioning a smartphone front and center of the design. Having previously worked with Fergie, Lady Gaga and Ciara to name a few, Christian’s contemporary and vibrant vision was the perfect partnership for Google’s Really Blue Pixel launch at London Fashion Week. To celebrate the launch, Christian shot the Really Blue jeans in an iconic 90s denim photoshoot style.
Christian Cowan commented: “It’s incredibly exciting to be working with Google on this project and a challenge that I couldn’t resist! ‘Really Blue’ is such a unique colour and the concept behind it really appealed to me. When developing the designs for the jeans, it was really important the final pair matched that vibrant, youthful feel that Pixel Really Blue echoes. I’m delighted with the final product and what better way to pay homage to a one of a kind phone than with a brand new, one of kind wardrobe staple.”
The Really Blue colour speaks to both the simplicity of Google and its progressive and playful nature. When conducting research, Really Blue was a consistent favourite, offering a strong pop of colour for those looking for a little more playfulness in their devices and daily lives.
Google’s Really Blue jeans are available to custom order upon appointment with the designer. Price will be quoted at primary fitting.
Pixel in ‘Really Blue’ is on pre order now from EE and Carphone Warehouse and will be in stores from 24th February 2017.
