The 44-year-old actress has revealed she had to stop ordering the cuisine because she believes the eight-legged sea creatures are more intelligent than human beings as they have more neurons in their brains, and when she discovered the fact she was left completely "freaked out" at the thought of eating them.

Speaking about her change in diet with her colleagues, which was shared on her health and lifestyle brand Goop's Instagram account and has since been reported on PEOPLE, the founder of the company said: "They have more neurons in their brains than we do. I had to stop eating them because I was so freaked out by it.

"They can escape from sea world and s**t by unscrewing drains and going out to sea. #tangent (sic)."

However, the blonde beauty's beliefs swiftly led others to pose questions about other delicacies they can or cannot eat.

And when asked whether the same principle applies to calamari, the 'Shallow Hal' star - who has 12-year-old daughter Apple and 10-year-old son Moses with her ex-husband Chris Martin - replied: "Do I need to stop eating calamari?

"No. Squid is the dumb cousin, apparently. (sic)."

Gwyneth is known for experimenting with various skincare methods and foods, and she has recently revealed she had to consume goat's milk for eight days to make herself feel better.

Speaking previously, she said: "I'm really interested in the impact of heavy metals and parasites on our bodies.

"I think they're two of the biggest culprits in terms of why we feel bad. I'm knee-deep in figuring out ways to clear them from the body, looking at all sorts of potentially weird modalities."

Although the entrepreneur believes she has a "pretty healthy" diet, she likes to give into her cravings and indulge in treats.

She explained: "I have a pretty healthy diet, so when I'm eating processed foods and not watching my alcohol intake, I feel it.

"But at the same time, you want deliciousness, you want a fun life - pleasure."
