The 44-year-old actress launched her debut scent Edition 01 fragrance on her popular e-store Goop last week, and the star has revealed she wanted to create a product that wouldn't be "harmful" for her 12-year-old child and other young girls who are experimenting with beauty products.

Speaking to PEOPLE about the cosmetic product, which is the first perfume in a series of scents inspired by the four seasons, the 'Iron Man 3' star said: "We want to create fragrance that isn't harmful, especially to our daughters who are growing and developing and I think we really all deserve that.

"That's what we're trying to do.

"This is an area where I'm still in education mode, but she's very into make-up, YouTube tutorials, and conventional make-up. That is one of the reasons why I want to do this even more."

Although Gwyneth - who also has 10-year-old son Moses with her former partner Chris Martin - has admitted she is still learning about beauty, she is also trying to "educate" her brood about different skincare treatments and items.

She explained: "My daughter loves the Pink body fragrance. She's like, 'I want the Pink body mist.' And I let her do her thing! Because I can just educate her.

"My son is more like, 'Is this a clean body wash?' He's so funny."

And the blonde beauty has revealed she loves different fragrances because they are "transportive and powerful".

She said: "I am such a fragrance girl. I love [fragrance] so much, and I think it's so transportive and powerful and it can take you back in time, it can take you forward in time to dreams of your life, and I just think it's amazing."
