The 46-year-old model explained she is unnerved by the "mass production" of clothing, so insists she only wears well-made clothes and gives away items when she stops wearing them.

She said: "I recycle everything in my life that I can - my mother has a second-hand shop in Copenhagen, so lots of our clothes go there. I need to buy ethically; mass production freaks me out."

The brunette beauty - who is also known as a fashion photographer in her own right - continued to say she is careful with her purchasing habits, as she always wants to be able to wear clothes multiple times because she only has a small wardrobe.

She admitted: "I don't have a lot of wardrobe space and I will only buy things that I know I am not just going to wear once or twice."

This summer, Helena will launch a three-year partnership with clothing company InWear and will release a jewellery collection with Danish company Skagen next month, but insists both will be small-scale because she doesn't want to be responsible for the over-production of clothing.

Speaking to The Sunday Telegraph's Stella magazine, she added: "I don't have a huge ambition to start something grand and contribute to mass production."
