John Galliano will show his first collection for Maison Martin Margiela in London.

The fashion designer was fired from Dior in 2011 amid accusations of racist slurs outside a Parisian café but returned to the industry as creative director of the French label last month and will unveil his first couture designs for the luxury brand in the British capital on January 12.

John Galliano will show his first couture collection for Maison Martin Margiela in London in January.

According to a statement from Maison Martin Margiela, John has decided to show his debut designs for the brand in London due to his "formative years and his beginnings in the industry."

The collection is also "intrinsically related to the city's traditional tailoring history and heritage."

The show will be John's first since his unceremonious exit from Dior and will be attended by 100 guests.

The collection will also be shown at Paris' Couture Fashion Week between January 25 and 30.

The 57-year-old designer recently thanked his "loyal friends" for sticking by him through the "highs and lows" when he made his first public appearance since taking on the new role at the British Fashion Awards earlier this month.

The fashion icon also presented American Vogue editor Anna Wintour with her Outstanding Achievement award at the ceremony and recalled fond memories of their time together to the audience.

John noted a time the famous duo were making their way to the prestigious Met Ball when he forgot how to drape the sari he was wearing and was forced to tuck it into his "knickers" in front of other world renowned designers.

He said: "When we were about to get out of the car. There was Calvin, and Donna, and my sari began to fall down. In Anna's world there is a solution for everything and she said, 'There is an Indian prince here, he'll know how to drape it properly.' And of course there was, and he did."
