The 28-year-old singer has teamed up with the animal rights organisation to encourage people to stop buying clothes, shoes and handbags made from animal skin after she learnt of the poor and inhumane conditions crocodiles and alligators are kept in prior to being killed for fashion.

She explained their collaboration: "Although I'm not as familiar with crocodiles as I am with dogs and horses, I know that all animals are capable of suffering."

The soul singer, who is a lifelong vegetarian, peeled off her clothes and spray painted herself with scales in a bid to persuade people to use synthetic animal skin instead.

She added: "I hope when people see footage of what happens to crocodiles and alligators killed for their skin to be turned into handbags, they'll join me in leaving wildlife out of their wardrobes."

PETA exposed a number leather farms earlier this year for stashing the animals in a cruel environment prior to them being slaughtered and their skin being used for handbags.

This isn't the first time Joss has collaborated with the organisation as she previously worked with them in support of bears that were being inhumanely killed for their fur.
