Karl Lagerfeld showcased his Resort 2017 collection - the first catwalk since the 1959 communist revolution - in the capital of Havana on Tuesday (03.05.16), following President Barack Obama restored diplomatic relations with America and the Caribbean island earlier this year.

The 82-year-old German fashion designer celebrated the recent union between the countries with his Cuban-inspired fashion range, which was showcased on the runway situated en plein air - the dividing line between the Old and New Havana - in the capital's Paseo de Prado.

During an announcement of the luxury show, Chanel said "the cultural richness and the opening up of Cuba to the world have turned it into a source of inspiration".

Estée Lauder's ambassador Kendall Jenner, siblings Brad and Hudson Kroenig, Baptiste Giabiconi and Sébastien Jondeau were among models to grace the runway and exhibit the luxury brand's upcoming designs.

Prior to the catwalk exhibition guests flocked to hot spots such as Ernest Hemingway's house, and continued on to an exhibition of the creator's photographs, which saw the face of Chanel No. 5, Gisele Bündchen arrive in style in a coconut cab, although vintage style classic cars lined the Latin American streets.

Tilda Swinton and 'Fast and Furious' actor Vin Diesel were among guests who attended the momentous fashion bash.

And the event drew to an energetic close with a conga line of energetic musicians and models, with a final bow by the sequin clad maestro, who wore a Saint Laurent jacket to the event.
