Karl Lagerfeld has chosen a Russian theme for the Monaco Rose Ball.

Chanel's creative director will organise the event, more commonly known as the Bal de la Rose, taking inspiration from Russian painter and art theoretician Kazimir Malevich.

Lagerfeld has designed special tables and linens in a bid to pay homage to the artist, while the entrance hall is to set to continue the theme carried on invitations for the event, which featured fashion illustrations drawn in the painter's signature constructivist style.

The annual ball, which is hosted by Prince Albert of Monaco and Princess Caroline of Hanover, helps to raise money for the Princess Grace Foundation, a charity supporting various paediatric health initiatives and the foundation is marking its 50th anniversary this year.

The ball, held on Saturday, March 29, is one of the most highly anticipated events on the country's social calendar, and the invite-only event takes place at the Salle des Etoiles.

Guests at the star-studded bash are treated to a lavish gourmet dinner, live music and it's often frequented by royals.

Attendees to grace the guestlist at the prestigious event last year included British model Cara Delevingne and Rita Ora.
