Kate Moss' self portrait drawn in lipstick sold to a private buyer for £33,600 after it failed to reach its reserve price at auction.

The artwork, which Moss sketched herself during her relationship with Pete Doherty, features the model smoking and is inscribed by Doherty with the words: "Who needs blood when you've got lipstick?"

The troubled Babyshambles front man sold the picture after their relationship ended to an anonymous buyer, who in turn put it up for sale with auction house Lyon & Turnbull.

The private sale ended this weekend after bids only reached £25,000 at auction - £15,000 less than its reserve price.
