The 36-year-old actress sent jaws dropping to the floor when she

walked on to the red carpet at the awards ceremony at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles earlier this month in a nude coloured Michael Kors Collection dress and her fresh style.

Initially her long-time hairstylist David Babaii had only given her a trim ahead of the bash but the day before she made the decision to just "go for out" and lop off seven inches from her locks.

Kate wasn't worried about snipping her strands to her shoulders because her blonde tresses will "grow back".

During an interview with 'Live! with Kelly and Michael', she said: "I cut my hair! I was ready to cut my hair off. Why not? It'll grow back. I actually think boys are worse than girls when it comes to haircuts. Except my brothers who all need haircuts and for some reason don't get them. They just don't know how to groom themselves."

As well as deciding on a shorter style, Kate's colourist Cassondra Kaeding also "made her go blonder" for the event, bringing her back to "Kate Hudson circa 2005".

The 'Kung Fu Panda 3' star's makeup artist Mélanie Inglessis previously revealed Kate's past look inspired her work for the Globes.

Mélanie said: "The dress is all body, it's really sexy, it's very Kate. I just wanted her to look really healthy, like a sun-kissed goddess. Kate is fun, she's sexy, she's modern and I just wanted to go with all of that. So I created beautiful skin, a smoky eye and a nude lip. It was a little '70s, Studio 54, a little sexy, a little Kate."
