The 33-year-old 'How Do I Live' hitmaker has revealed she has "a lot" of swimwear to make up for her younger years when she "never" wanted to wear a swimming costume because she suffered with psoriasis, which left her skin dry, red and flaky and made her feel "miserable".

Speaking about the most popular garment in her wardrobe, she said: "I have a lot [of bikinis] - about 200 I think - thank God hey are small and don't take up much room!

"I grew up with psoriasis my whole life. I was 80 per cent covered by the time I was six years old, so it was miserable. My whole childhood I never wanted to be in a bathing suit, ever.

"Now, if I could walk around naked I would.

"I've been on medication for the last 12 years and that has changed my life."

And the singer songwriter also has a vast expanding shoe collection, although she barely wears any footwear.

She explained: "I have a closet full of shoes, but I'm usually barefoot."

Meanwhile, the blonde beauty - who married 'Sunset Beach' actor Eddie Cibrian in 2011 - has admitted she has a "simple" sense of style, even though she adores fashion.

She told Very.co.uk magazine: "I love fashion, but I'm also very simple in a lot of ways. I'm from Mississippi ... I just want my clothes to be comfortable.

"There are so many expectations that you should be this 360-degree person who can do everything and look like a model. I'm just here to sing and I'm just a human like everyone else. The older I get, the more I don't worry about things like that and my job becomes more enjoyable, instead of trying to be something I'm not."
