Liv Tyler has lashed out at the fashion industry for using "malnourished" models on the catwalk.

The 38-year-old actress, who was a child model in her younger years, has admitted she can't help but criticise her body shape because designers prefer to use "very thin" people to represent their designs nowadays.

Speaking to Yahoo Style, she said: "I'm looking at photos [of models] and thinking, wait, should I look like that? Do I need to do that? Do I want that?

"The girls walking the catwalk [now] are very, very thin and very tall... The whole industry has changed."

Despite the industry tarnishing her confidence, Liv - who is the daughter of Aerosmith's lead singer Steven Tyler and model Bebe Buell - is adamant she won't be pushed, emotionally, into losing weight to conform with society.

She explained: "I think there is a lot of pressure [in Hollywood] to look the same, now more than ever. But I always try to remind myself of who I am, and stay true to that, to not compare myself to others."

"I go through periods where I just want to wear sweatpants and a puffer coat, and I wish I lived in Maine where I grew up and I could just jump in the car and go to school."
