Marc Jacobs has appointed Sebastian Suhl as its new CEO.

LVMH, which manages the brand, has confirmed that Sebastian, 46, will replace Bertrand Stalla Bourdillon - who has acted as CEO and chairman of Marc Jacobs International since 2006.

The move follows Sebastian's success as CEO of French fashion house Givenchy.

According to WWD, the US-born fashion mogul dramatically expanded the label's retail footprint - with a further 25 boutiques set to open this year - despite only spending two-years at the helm of the company.

The news follows on from Marc Jacobs' decision to step down from his head designer position at Louis Vuitton in 2013 in order to focus his attention on the eponymous line.

It is believed that the 51-year-old designer stepped down as head of the luxury brand with IPO ambitions for Marc Jacobs International.

Suhl's background in taking a company public prior to his Givenchy days is rumoured to have leant itself to the new appointment.

Following the shake-up, Philippe Fortunato, the former President and CEO of Louis Vuitton in North Asia, will take over Suhl's role at Givenchy, while Marc's business partner of over 30 years and International President of the brand, Robert Duffy, will remain with his company.
