Melissa McCarthy is launching her own clothing line.

The 'Mike and Molly' actress has fulfilled her childhood dream of becoming a fashion designer by teaming up with apparel company Sunrise Brands to create a collection aimed at changing the "plus-size fashion game".

She told WWD: "It's something I've done since grade school.

"I'd lay on the floor, look through Vogue and cut out patterns. It was everything I ever wanted to do.

"I'd been looking for two, three, maybe four years for manufacturers to help us do this line but after we met with Sunrise, we felt they were committed to changing the plus-size game.

"I always said, 'Why can't I find great stuff?' And Sunrise was up for the challenge."

The 44-year-old comedienne was inspired to create her own clothing range after struggling to find fashionable garments that suited her as her weight fluctuated in the past.

She said: "(I've been) every size on the planet. I have experience dressing me as a 6, a 12 and more. And when you go above a size 12, you don't lose your love of fashion."

Melissa will be assisted in designing the collection by creative director, Judy Swartz, product coordinator, Alexandria Longo and fit specialist, Daniela Kurrle.

The line, which is yet to be named, will also include accessories and beauty ranges and will be released in autumn 2015 in selected stores across the UK, Canada and the US.
