Britain's Missing Top Model got a whole lot tougher this week as the girls took part in sexy photo shoots with hot male models before saying goodbye to compettition favourite Kellie Moody in a shock ellimination.
The Task
There were mixed reactions as Jonathan Phang told the girls about this week's intimacy task and brought out four professional male models for them to work with. Kelly seemed to relish the male attention while Jess struggled to get over her intimacy issues.
Remaining contestants Sophie, Jess, Kellie and Kelly were given a helping hand with a few lessons in getting up close and personal from director and acting coach Jeremy Stockwel. During the session they were challenged to push their boundaries and get touchy feely with the guys- much to Jess's disgust.
After the workshop the girl's headed off home with the guys for an evening of getting to know eachother. This was all too much for Kellie Moody who struggled to keep up with the fast and flirty banter and headed off to bed early while Sophie and Kelly whiled away the night laughing and giggling with their new male friends.
The next day saw Kellie come up against her biggest challenge so far- a casting for a TV commercial in which she was required to speak. The girl's were all asked to read for a part in TV advertisement selling a fictional ice cream called Phang's.
Kellie, who is almost completely deaf, usually communicates with sign language and is not confident with speaking. However when she asked if she could say the lines using sign language Jonathan said he wanted her to try and speak the best she could without her hands.
Kellie clearly wasn't happy about this and spent most of the rehersal time worrying about how she would cope and when the big moment came her nerves showed through.
It wasn't only Kellie who struggled with the task. Jess, who suffers from ME amongst other illnesses, fell asleep and almost missed her call time. She then went on to anger casting director Ilenka Jelowicki by talking and giggling before she began her reading.
Kelly Knox again struggled to let her hard-faced front drop and let herself go- despite the judges highlighting this as her main weakness in earlier weeks.
Sophie was the only one to really shine in this part of the task and- apart from a shaky start after almost choking on the ice cream- she was praised for her natural acting ability.
Sophie stood out from the rest again the following day as the contestants took part in a sexy photoshoot with the male models. When the photographer decided she wanted to shoot Sophie on the third floor and there was no lift she wasn't phased for a moment and happily accepted a piggy back from one of the hunky males. She then impressed the photographer further by posing easily and effectively without any fuss.
Jess struggled most with this part of the task and even confessed thatt as a the only lesbian in the group she found it harder to fake sexiness with a boy.
The Elimination Room
Kellie Moody already had concerns before setting foot in front of the judging panel: " I feel really nervous. I feel worried, because I didn't do very well in the TV casting selling ice cream. I wasn't very good at that".
Reviewing the photos taken with the male models, Marie Claire editor Marie O'Riordan tells her: "I think this was probably the first assignment where you struggled a little bit, because you discovered that you had to actually deliver a line of speech on camera. So this was the first time that your disability became visible."
Later, as the judges talk, Wayne Hemingway says that her pictures have steadily gone downhill, and he also doubts that she can fit the 'disability role model' agenda that he and Lara Masters, in particular, are championing.
In the end, it came down to Kellie and Jessica. It's a very close decision, but Kellie is the unlucky loser. Marie O'Riordan tells her: "You started off very well, but unfortunately [your photographs] went down each week in standard", though she also has no doubt about Kellie's natural modelling ability, and her hunger to succeed.
