Models Compete to Lose Weight for Reality Show

A shocking new reality show will see wannabe models compete against each other to lose weight and achieve their dream.

The US show will air on MTV and take girls who have the looks to be a model but are not quite thin enough and encourage them to lose weight.

Model Maker will reward the girl who successfully loses weight with $100,000, a modelling portfolio and a personal trainer for a year.

The show comes when the fashion industry is coming under increasing criticism for using unhealthily thin girls on the catwalk and more and more reports are emerging of the extreme method models resort to to get thin.

MTV producers say the show will achieve the weight loss 'in a healthy and realistic time span' but is this really the kind of publicity the fashion industry needs at the moment?
