The 45-year-old French fashion designer - who was named creative director of the luxury fashion house Louis Vuitton in 2013 - has admitted he would "like" to embark on a solo fashion career and believes he would be capable of launching an eponymous brand, although there is no solid plans as of yet.

Speaking about his future career plans on the French talk show 'Le Petit Journal', which was reported on Fashionista online, he said: "[I] would like to like to do it [go solo] soon.

"I could do it. I don't have a date, but I'll come back to tell you."

However, the fashion mogul -who was the creative mastermind at Balenciaga for 15 years before leaving in 2012 and has designed garments for Alicia Vikander, Kate Moss and Gwyneth Paltrow - has revealed he finds it bitter-sweet leaving a company he has been a part of for many years.

He explained: "It's sad, because there are beautiful associations; there are these grand houses who bring in these designers, and the designers bring them to a new stage.

"It's always sad to see those chapters end, but you always hope to see them somewhere else."

Meanwhile, Nicolas - who received the Womenswear Designer of the Year award by the CFDA (the Council of Fashion Designers of America) in 2001 - has admitted his vision of the Louis Vuitton woman is a "mix".

Speaking previously, he said: "I define her in a mix. She is really cool with mixing casual clothes with embellishments. The only thing is the expectation of the luxury and the way it's done. So it's really someone that has a real taste for mixing."
