The 30-year-old creative director of the designer brand Balmain has partnered with the sportswear giant to launch an athleisure capsule NikeLab x Olivier Rousteing: Football Nouveau, and the French designer has admitted he wanted to include metallic and embroidered detail in the Summer of Sport series collection for added grandeur.

Speaking to Vogue magazine about the new partnership, which began almost a year ago, and bringing his personal touch to the range, he said: "Nike is a great brand--more than a brand! When I was a kid, I wore Nike! I was really proud that they came to me.

"I really wanted gold and embroidery everywhere. I love craftsmanship and va-va-voom.

"It's on the glamorous side but wearable, so even people not into sport can find things they love."

And Olivier - who has built up a large celebrity clientele including Jourdan Dunn, Rihanna and the Kardashian/Jenner gang and coined the term #BalmainArmy - has revealed his favourite pieces from the apparel is the body con dresses, crop tops and the hoodie, because of its hip hop dancer vibe.

He explained: "The body-con dress for the ladies--I am really proud of that. [The crop top] it has a hip-hop dancer/singer feeling.

"I can't wait to wear the hoodie for the men, with the gold piping and the gold swoosh!"

Olivier teased the news via social media on Monday (23.05.16), and posted a string of pictures including the gold Nike logo on his Instagram account, as well as shots from their campaign, which featured the muse for Olivier's latest fashion venture Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo.

He captioned a post: "SO proud fo Cristiano Ronaldo being part of my team. JOIN THE TEAM!! #champion #epic @nikelab @Dazed @Cristiano #Nikelab #niekfootball nike.com/OR Photography by @nick)knight Styling @robbiespencer #dreamteam (sic)."

Whilst another image of him sporting garments from the collaboration posing with a football read: "SO PROUD TO SHARE WITH YOU MY NEW COLLAB Finally here! My collection with Nikelab - Discover more at nike.com/OR #NikeLab shot by @nick_knight #epic (sic)."

The 'Football Nouveau' line, which is inspired by the forthcoming Euro 2016 tournament, features crop tops, sweatshirts, zip-up jumpers, tracksuits and trainers made with his favourite FlyKnit material, and is set to hit stores on June 2.
