CFDA Awards 2007: Ralph Lauren is Made Legend

06-06-2007 10:22

The New York Public Library played host to America's fashion A-List for the 25th Annual Council of Fashion Designers of America Awards last night.

The event was hosted by actress Ellen Barkin, who will appear in this summer's big film, Ocean's 13. Also lending their talents were Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen, Uma Thurman and Oprah Winfrey.

The top prize of Womenswear Designer of the Year was shared by Oscar de la Renta and Lazaro Hernandez & Jack McCollough for Proenza Schouler.

The Menswear prize went to Ralph Lauren, who was also presented the first ever American Fashion Legend award for his lifetime contributions to American style.

As far as the fashion seen at the event went- the Olsen twins stole the show in their own creations. They wore the same beautifully designed floor length dress with a wide-belted waist and deep plunging neckline in contrasting black and white showing the world they have grown from cute teeny boppers into elegant young women.
