The 'Kiss It Better' singer, who has been the ambassador for the designer brand since 2015, has joined forces with the luxury French label for the second time to design a new futuristic eyewear collection called simply Rihanna, which was inspired by La Forge from 'Star Trek'.

Speaking to WWD online about her latest fashion venture, the Barbadian-born beauty said: "I've always been obsessed with his [La Forge] eye wear, and when I got to Dior and saw all the materials I could play with, it all just came together.

"The process was pretty seamless. I spent a day at Dior with their eyewear design team. I started by looking through all the archives to see what they've done in the past, then got acquainted with all the new materials. I literally sat there and drew and drew until I was happy with the design, and the team illustrated it for me right then and there. We picked materials and colours that same day, and after that it was a matter of weeks before I saw the first prototype."

Although this is Rihanna's first creative project with the fashion house, the 28-year-old has previously partnered with the designer label last year when she starred in the labels Secret Garden IV campaign.

Speaking about the partnership with Rihanna, Dior's CEO Sidney Toledano said: "We are very pleased to partner for the second time with Rihanna.

"She is an artist, an entertainer, an entrepreneur, a philanthropist, and a style icon for today's generation."

Rihanna's accessory capsule will feature one frame of sunglasses in six colours, including a 24-karat gold-plated edition, which will be available exclusively at Dior stores next month.

Meanwhile the creative director of Puma - who launched her first footwear range for the sportswear brand last year and has since launched three Fenty x Puma collections - has returned to her original Puma by Rihanna Creeper shoe collection and is set to launch three additional colours of the design on Thursday (26.05.16).
