Women are still splurging on the odd pair of new shoes, describing them as an 'untouchable' luxury during this recession.
According to a new survey in America, conducted by BIGresearch and STORES magazine, one in four people said that shoes were 'off-limits' when it came to cutbacks.
40% of those surveyed also listed haircuts and colour as something they refused to give up too, according to The Wall Street Journal.
Oddly enough, designer handbags and luxury facials took a beating in the survey, with 92% and 89% of those polled calling them 'expendable' purchases. Ouch!
So while we continue to see cutbacks in every other area of the fashion industry, it appears that shoes, at least for now will remain an item we simply cannot live without.
