The 37-year-old singer, who has recreated trends from the last five decades to celebrate Appletiser as the official soft drink of Ascot, has admitted she discovered her love of fashion as a teenager but counts the iconic sixties era as her "favourite" period because it is "playful" and enables her to experiment with bold prints.

Speaking about the year which has largely influenced her personal style, she said: "I was a teenager in the 1990s and this is when I first became aware of fashion. [But] the 1960s is my favourite decade. I have lots of vintage 60s clothes. It's a playful era, full of bold and daring prints. There's a real sense of adventure - put it on and off you go!

"An iconic look to me is one that looks stylish and very of the moment; effortless and not too premeditated. "

The 'Murder on the Dancefloor' hitmaker's latest campaign sees her travel through time to emulate similar ensembles worn at the annual horse racing event over 50 years, which see's her adorn garments designed by Olwen Bourke.

Speaking about the venture, she said: "I've loved looking back at the Ascot fashions of the last five decades with Appletiser. I didn't realise the style of each decade was so distinctive, but once the hair and make-up was added, I felt like I was transported back in time."

However, the mother of four - who has sons Sonny, 12, Kit, seven, Ray, four and six-month-old Jesse with husband Richard Jones - is not afraid to embrace more daring and eccentric items rather than playing it safe with her wardrobe choices.

She explained: "When it comes to clothes, I always think it's better to have tried and failed, then to play it safe."
