If you're struggling to think of ways to accessorise a tartan piece, one of the easiest ways is to draw a palette of colour inspiration from the weave.
Here we have a cape made up of oranges, burgundys, greys and navy blue and so this is a great place to start for finding your winter pieces.
Some retro lace ups, similar to the dark orange beauties above will make for great footwear, team them with some over the knee socks for texture and to help lengthen the look of the leg.
It also means that wearing skirts and shorts will be a warmer affairs, (simply wear nude tights underneath the socks).
The tartan theme can be as strong or minimal as you like, but this over the satchel is perfect for complimenting the style throughout with ease.
Finish off with a floppy felted hat in one of this season's trend setting shades to capture the overall 70s inspired look.
