Kate Moss is the Queen of denim hotpants

Denim shorts/hotpants are a staple for the summer months, in fact they're a staple all year-round depending on how you style them.

We give you some tips and ideas on how to wear these must-have denim shorts from Topshop

We love the stud detail.

These are definitely something that we would see Queen of denim hotpants, Kate Moss, in. We can also take inspiration from Sienna Miller who is also a fan of the staple item. And we can't get Rosie Huntington-Whiteley out of our monds from Coachella; she paired hers with a white shirt and lustworthy Isabel Marant boots and we've been longing for the outfit ever since.

Here are our three ways to wear denim shorts:

1. Festival ready

Pair them with a band tee and your wellies for a festival look that's sure to have people envious.

Don't forget your pac-a-mac or waterproof rain jacket, we all know how unpredictable this British weather can be.

Spiked bracelets, leather stud cuffs and anything emblazoned with a peace sign are the accessories you need to head for.

2. Summer cool

Day to day summer events should be met with your new stud denim shorts.

Obviously keep this particular look for when the sun is shining though.

Pair your shorts with a pair of colourful sandals, a bright vest or tee and your favourite shopper bag to carry all of your essentials.

Colourful, stacked friendship bracelets are perfect to complete this outfit.

3. Autumn essentials

It won't be long till the Autumn months are upon us and you'll still want to wear your shorts then, so these tips will make sure you're right on trend through till winter.

Tights are obviously going to be the biggest addition and will help to keep you warm. Colourful, printed ones will stop the outfit from fading into the background.

Wear with a chunky knit on the colder days and a pair of ankle boots, á la Isabel Marant will finish the outfit off nicely.

If you're looking for an accessory to dress it up, pair it with a statement necklace for some decadence.
