Cara Delevingne and Karl Lagerfeld close the Chanel show

Chanel turned the runway into a supermarket for its autumn/winter 2014 show at Paris Fashion Week.

Karl Lagerfeld debuted his latest ready-to-wear collection in the French capital's Grand Palais with the likes of Cara Delevingne, Sam Rollinson and Kendall Jenner strutting down the aisles in an innovative luxury grocery store setting.

The catwalk featured shelves bursting with containers and jars of food produce including smoked salmon, caviar, pate and lemons stamped with the Chanel logo, and its very own check-out area.

Models pushed trolleys as they perused the Chanel-branded food with names including 'haute Ketchup' and 'eau de Chanel'.

Creative Director Karl is famed for his theatrical shows, which have previously showcased giant icebergs and an underwater kingdom, and he certainly pulled out all the stops for the event.

The French luxury fashion house had specially created 500 new brands for the occasion, ranging from sweets to detergent.

Kendall - who was catapulted to the spotlight alongside her famous family on 'Keeping Up With The Kardashians' - was excited about the show and posted an image of her with American fashion model Natalie Westling while she was getting her make-up done.

She wrote on Instagram: "backstage at #Chanel messing with @nataliewestling as she gets her favorite thing done! (sic)"

Famous faces in the audience included Rihanna, Anna Wintour and supermodel Joan Smalls, and guests were sat on packing crates.
