Houndstooth is set to make a comeback next season with plenty of 1940s monochrome livening up our winter wardrobes.
Karl Lagerfeld famously brought the houndstooth check to the Chanel catwalk back in 2005 but this time it's going mainstream and all the highstreet are stores stocking up on the trend.
New Look and Marks & Spencers' Autumn/Winter collections are full of designer-inspired dogtooth treasures already....
This cropped jacket from M&S (£39.50) is totally Chanel and an easy way to add a touch of the houndstooth trend to any work outfit.
This bodycon dress from New Look is almost identical to the one we saw on the Preen catwalk in February (see main image) and it's a bargain at £18.
The key to wearing houndstooth is to avoid mixing it with other bold prints. Keep it simple and team dogtooth coats and jackets with a plain blouse and trousers or even with jeans for a casual look.
