Women think men should go for the casual route

You want to make an impact on the first date, and it has to be perfect really doesn't it? New research reveals how men can impress with their outfit choices.

Teh new survey from COTTON USA has revealed that, when it comes to choosing an outfit for a first date, less effort can often result in more success.

Research results found over half of women branded leather trousers, made popular by unlucky in love celebs like Harry Styles and Russell Brand, as the worst crime against fashion a single man could commit.

However, the skinny jeans phenomenon is not proving popular with women, as over 1 in 4 of women claim tight trousers are a huge no-no. Findings also suggest that 36% of women are more attracted to men who keep it casual with jeans on a first date, signifying a relaxed sense of style is a winning look when it comes to impressing your date.

Now what do women think is a sign of a well-dressed man? Well for single guys, a plain white shirt is a winner, with nearly 1 in 3 of women sharing the opinion that this is the sign of a well dressed man, and favouring it over a pink or blue shirt.

Stephanie Thiers-Ratcliffe, International Marketing Manager at COTTON USA said: “The research shows that although trends in fashion change all the time, a classic look made from quality fabric will never go out of style”.

She continued: “An outfit like a shirt and denim jeans made with U.S. cotton will not only last for a long time but will also help men clinch that all important second date.”

Interestingly, when choosing an outfit for a special occasion such as a date, 58% of people choose an outfit based on how comfortable it feels and almost half of people prefer fabrics which contain natural fibres. For 15% of people, fabrics which feel nice to touch are the biggest turn on and, for one in ten, box fresh cotton underwear receives a big thumbs up from the opposite sex.
