Packing a stylish suitcase to go on holiday can be a bit tricky, especially when you’re limited with space and you’re only going away for a couple of days.

Don't struggle packing your case for a weekend away

Creating a capsule wardrobe for a weekend away takes a little bit of planning, but that bit of planning can create a number of looks that won’t weigh your bag down.

It’s essential to pick out pieces that will work together and can be dressed up or down depending on what you pair them with.

To help show you what we mean here we have four looks created with four simple items, two tops, a tube skirt and pair of cropped jeans.

First up, an outfit that’s perfect for a casual day; the three-quarter length sleeve top from bonprix paired with printed jeans from Bon Prix and lace-up pumps from Kurt Geiger is comfortable and stylish. The printed jeans are on-trend and whilst the top does cover your arms it’s also lightweight so will be perfect for the unpredictable British weather if you’re headed on a staycation this summer.

Next up, pair the same top with the tube skirt from Next and pair it with simple sandals, again from Next and you’ve got a look that comfortable but dressy enough to wear out for drinks or food. The style of top ensures that lumps and bumps are covered in the midi skirt.

The third look is perfect if you’re heading out in the evening, pairing the lilac top with the printed midi skirt, add some heels, these are from New Look, and you’ve got a look that’s perfect to wear out for drinks and a club.

Finally we look that can be dressed up or down is the jeans paired with a simple draped top from bonprix with sandals. The lilac top brings out the pastel shades in the jeans and is loose enough to wear to feel comfortable when you’ve started eating your holiday food.

These four simple separates can create four looks that will see you through a weekend away perfectly, ideal if you only want to take a small bag and keep your ‘essentials’ to a minimum.

For our weekend away we headed to the Lake District and stayed in a beautiful cottage which was booked through www.sykescottages.co.uk
