Jade Slowe GFW Collection

Jade Slowe is yet another example of the oh-so talented designers who emerged from this year's Graduate Fashion Week.

Kingston University fashion student Jade's final-year collection explores the concept of the child within every woman and takes its inspiration from her memories of the favourite party clothes she wore as a young girl.

Keen on dressing up at an early age, 22-year-old Jade from Durban, South Africa often used to layer the clothes in her wardrobe to create new outfits that were full of volume, colour and embellishment.

Jade drew on research with both women and children, where she asked them to express their inner child through drawing, painting and doodling to create a series of bold, vibrant and naive prints.

“I used children’s clothes, both vintage and new as my starting point for a range of feminine, yet quirky womenswear that features interchangeable garments full of joy, life and colour,” Jade said.

The collection featured clothes that juxtaposed both hard and soft fabrics, including chiffon with jersey and wool with silk.
