Lantern skirts were a hit on the spring/summer catwalks and now we're catching on to this fab new shape.

The lantern cut is a little like the tulip skirts that were so big last season, only shorter and with a bit more volume. Tracey Reese's New York show was full of pretty printed lantern skirts and now you can get some equally gorgeous ones on the high street.

Graphic prints are a great way to brighten up your summer wardrobe and this funky lantern skirt from Miso @ Republic (£22.99) has a retro 80s feel- we love it!

The lantern shape does tend to add a little more vlume to the hips- which isn't great for curvy girls. A colour block, like this skirt from Dorothy Perkins (£15), will detract away from the hips and draw the eye down to gorgeous tanned holiday legs.

This white lantern skirt from Lipsy (£38) is an essential for the holiday suticase. It's casual enough for a daytime look but dress it up with some heels and you'll be heating up the bars too.

The celebs are loving metalics at the minute and this gold skirt from Peacocks can be teamed with a simple black vest, chunky belt and killer heels for an easy sexy evening look. And it's a bargain at £16!

Florals are the hot print of the summer and this vintage rose print skirt from New Look (£20) is totally girly and is fab for adding sexy womanly curves to boyish figures.
