Tommy Hilfiger SS14

There’s an ugly shoe trend taking place, and we believe you’re either going to be a lover or a hater, which side will you sit on when it comes to pool sliders?

Yes, they may have a style reminiscent of the 90s but it’s hard to deny that these shoes aren’t practical for when you’re on holiday and that they’re incredibly comfortable – what with the foot support and extra padding on the sole.

For Spring Summer 14 it’s all about the ugly shoe.

It’s time to say goodbye to pretty ballerina flats and embellished sandals and usher in the thick-soled sandals that took the catwalk by storm.

Tommy Hilfiger, Givenchy, Helmut Lang and Celine were some of the designers that took up the new shoe trend, and of course whilst they attempted to put a designer spin of the sporty classic the shoe still comes out ugly.

But there’s no doubt you aren’t going to be able to avoid this trend, not only have designers created plenty of pairs the high street is following suit with affordable options spotted in River Island, Topshop and Dune.

Much like the Jelly Shoe that has made its return back to fashion we think the pool slider is going to be loved by some and hated by many. Which camp are you in?
