Burberry Prorsum SS09 Skinny Trouser Trend

Burberry Prorsum SS09 Skinny Trouser Trend

As January nears it's end and February approaches, it's time we took a look at the new trouser trends currently hitting the high-street, just in time for the upcoming spring months.

The catwalk was awash with all different types of trousers this year, as designers made them the focal point of their collections. We saw harem pants, skinny jeans, tailored and tapered designs all strut down the runway for SS09.

Shorts too made an expected appearance, although this year was much more about long tailoring, as opposed to the bum-skimming mini design we've seen in previous years.

A new trend was also invented on the catwalk this year, and we're certain they won't be to everybody's taste; The Pyjama Pant. This was no ordinary PJ pant however, this was a silk designed, paisley printed PJ pant.

They've yet to make much of an appearance on the high-street yet, but with celebrities such as Jessica Alba sporting the trend, it won't be too long before they gain momentum in the fashion world.

Here's the new spring lowdown of trouser trends...

Skinny

As much as we want them to go away, each year the skinny makes some form of appearance on the high-street. Seen on Burberry Prorsum and Chanel, skinny trousers are in no danger of going away just yet.

Shorts

Yes, unfortunately it is that time of year again when you'll have to take your legs out of hibernation and scrub, shave and tan them to perfection. This season's shorts are long, tailored and loose fitting, so expect to see less denim this year and more bright fabrics making an appearance.

Harem

By far the most popular look on the catwalk this year was the harem pants. Bright pink, leopard print and lace designs dominated the shows, and that means the high-street too. There's no need to fear this trend as long as you know how to work it, so always wear with heels and keep your top half very simple and chic, to avoid to much clutter.

Smart Tailoring

Always great to have in your wardrobe for work or a smart occasion, the new tailored and tapered designs are sure to be a big hit this summer. Flare designs have had their day for the moment, so focus on finding a smart pair of fitted trousers that stop just short of your ankle, and pair with super high heels.
