Bedroom

The secret to great sex is all about the state of you bedroom according to relationship experts.

Over a quarter of Brits say their sex life is just about average while the same proportion of people rate it as downright terrible.

In a list of things to do before bedtime nearly 2 in 5 said they would prefer to read a book or a newspaper and 22% would watch television. Only a measly 8% would opt for getting intimate with their other half.

The question is: why are we finding it difficult to get in the mood for sex?

According to a panel of experts commissioned by mydeco it's because we haven't discovered the formula for the perfect bedroom and environment for sex.

They believe that there is a perfect setting to get you in the mood and improve your chances of getting some loving from that special someone.

The first step in the formula for changing your benign bedchamber into a bewitching boudoir is giving your sleep space a bit of a revamp. For a start the room needs to be red to demonstrate your rebellious and passionate side.

You also need to get kitted out with foam pillows, silk sheets and of course the eternal icon of seduction: a waterbed. Once you've got the room sorted it's just a matter of altering your behaviour to match the alluring environment you've created.

Although your pyjamas may feel like the most comfortable option, they're not always the most flattering or alluring. Wearing a camisole is much more likely to get the attention you're looking for.

Something you can both do is go to bed well after dinner. Going to bed straight after you've eaten isn't going to allow enough time to digest the food and is therefore less likely to put you in the mood for a steamy encounter.
