A posh puddings vending machine has been programmed to block children from getting free dessert samples by using face recognition.

The device is able to tell if a person trying to get a sample of the calorific treats is an adult or a kid and if a child is attempting to get one of the puddings it asks them to leave the area.

Bizarre

The machine - which is thought to be the first of its kind - has been created by Kraft and Intel to launch the new Jell-o Temptations premium dessert range.

A spokesperson for Kraft said: "This is the first sampling programme in the US that is activated by age-via-facial detection in order to target adults only.

"The Facial Age Detection technology from Intel features a camera integrated into the experience that reads the facial features of any consumer.

"People's images are not saved they're analysed to make sure only adults get free samples."
