A Frans Hals masterpiece which once hung in Elizabeth Taylor's living room has sold at auction for $2 million (?1.25 million).
The Portrait of a Man original, which was painted in the early 1630s, went to a phone bidder during a Christie's sale on Wednesday (25Jan12), according to the Associated Press.

Taylor's father acquired the painting and gave it to his daughter as a gift in the 1950s.
The late actress' extensive art collection is set to go under the hammer in London next month (Feb12).
A total of 38 works are being sold at Christie's auction house beginning on 7 February (12).
Pieces include a Vincent van Gogh autumn landscape, estimated to be worth between $7.6 million to $11 million (?4.8 million to ?6.9 million), an Edgar Degas self-portrait and creations by Camille Pissarro and Auguste Renoir.
