New Moon took $26.2 million back in November before going on to take over $700 million at the global box office to make it one of the biggest grossing movies of 2009.

The hype around Eclipse is already growing and the movie is expected to surpass the box office success of it's predecessor and could break $1 billion this summer.

Eclipse is the third of Stephanie Myers' novels to be adapted for the big screen as Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner all reprise their roles of Bella Swan, Edward Cullen and Jacob Black.

Bella once again finds herself surrounded by danger as Seattle is ravaged by a string of mysterious killings and a malicious vampire continues her quest for revenge.

In the midst of it all, she is forced to choose between her love for Edward and her friendship with Jacob -- knowing that her decision has the potential to ignite the struggle between vampire and werewolf.

With her graduation quickly approaching, Bella is confronted with the most important decision of her life.

Breaking Dawn has already been given the green light to go ahead and the beefiest book in the saga will be split into two movies.

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse is released 9th July.
