Estelle fights back tears every time she performs new single Thank You - because it reminds her of her recent love split.
The American Boy hitmaker had been dating a mystery keyboard player butthey went their separate ways just weeks before she heard the Akon-penned song.
As a result, every time she steps on stage to sing Thank You, Estelle is overcome with emotion.
She tells London's Evening Standard magazine, "(When I heard it) my heart started pounding. My chest hurt. And guess what? Two weeks later I broke up with this guy. And now I can't sing it without crying. It's my life. It's a mess. "I've never cried on stage before.
But every time I sing 'Thank You' the tears are ready to come.
"I'm not going to do that ugly face in public. OK, I am..".
Opening up about her doomed relationship, she adds, "When I first met him I asked him not to mess with me.
"I asked him to be 100 per cent with me. Please! Three years down the line he did the exact opposite.
"So Thank You is about growing up, turning into a woman and not being bitter.
"Not being angry at myself for choosing the wrong guy".
