Students work harder than we think

Acording to a new study, arould half of students have a part time job dsuring term time - earning a total of £2.3bn a year
Anylists from the Royal Bank of Scotland found that the average student works 16 hours per week.
The most popular part time job for students was par work, closely follower by clothing retail, but there were more unusual choices among them, such as Lifeguard and Turf accountant.
The most cost effective towns to study in were Cardiff, Leeds, Coventry, St Andrews and Manchester. The most expensive, was Cambridge - where the university strongly advises it's students not to take on part time work.
The average student in cardiff spent around £188 on living, but earned £131 a week, whereas in Cambridge, the average wage was around £69, and the averave weekly spend was £206.
Paul Jeffrey, head of student banking at RBOS, said: "For many students, heading off to university is the first time that they will live away from their parents. With that newfound independence comes a range of unexpected financial hurdles that many will not be adequately prepared for."
