Pets of the UK are in for a brilliant christmas, this year, with owners expected to lavish £400million in gifts on them, according to new data from Halifax pet insurance.
As many as 67,164 pet lovers are expected to give their pets £1'000 each in gifts, which may include daimond studded collars, mahogany beds, or the latest in canine fashion" the Doggy Puffa jacket.
Another half a million expect to spend around £100 on treating their pets this christmas. Yet more plan to spend around £35 on their beloved four leged friends!
But according to the research, whilst brits are happy to give their animals a few christmas trerats, many animals across the UK are still uninsured. As many as 85% of owners do not have any financial protection, should their pet meet with an accident.
Britons’ love affair with their pets is clearly demonstrated by the number of owners that are planning to play 'Santa Paws' this Christmas season," said Frances Wright at Halifax Pet Insurance.
"However we would encourage owners to ensure that they have adequate pet insurance, to cover treatment if pets require veterinary assistance, before they invest in expensive presents."
