BUYING YOUR BIKE

Whether you're buying a new or used motorbike, the first question you ask should be - what do I want this bike for? Get a bike that suits you, not one you have to change yourself to suit

Make a shortlist with your heart, and then let your head ask the questions. You love the looks of the Megahyablade-1000, but can you handle 0-60mph in two seconds? Will your feet touch the ground? Can you cruise 100 miles on a bike with a blade for a seat?

Once you've made a shortlist, get insurance quotes, arrange finance and book a test ride.

Also bear in mind that biking is generally seasonal, so you're likely to bag a new or a used bargain in winter or during the weeks before the licence plate change. If you can wait for the right time, the bargains are there for the taking.
