Motoring

It doesn't matter what size your engine is - what really matters when you're behind the wheel is whether you're wonky, flashy, pushy, nosy or perfect.

The different kinds of parkers emerged in a study of 3,000 drivers by car maker Hyundai which also revealed 58 per cent have trouble parking their cars.

Types of parkers uncovered by researchers are:

Perfect parker - 30 per cent This savvy motorist can zip into a space quickly, parking the car perfectly in a tight spot first time round.

Nervous parker - 18 per cent The parkers spend up to 30 minutes trying to get into a space, driving in and out, nervously trying to avoid touching other cars, curbs, pedestrians, walls and lamp-posts.

Patient parker - 16 per cent These are drivers who are happy to sit for ages in the same place waiting for a space to become available.

Wonky Parker - 13 per cent These parkers usually have the nose or boot of the car sticking halfway out of the car parking space.

Nosy Parker - 10 per cent These parkers think nothing of peering through the windscreens of parked cars to see how long they have left on their parking tickets, and are happy to ask other drivers who are relaxing in their cars if they intend to move anytime soon.

City Parker - 9 per cent These use their bumpers, and those of other cars, to judge whether or not a space is big enough for them.

Illegal Parker - 3 per cent This driver will put the car wherever it fits, regardless of whether the space is for disabled people, people with children or on double yellow lines.

Obstructive parker - 1 per cent These drivers think nothing of parking in the way of other people, often blocking cars in or making it difficult for others to manoeuvre.

Which category do you fall into then?
