The summer anti-drink drive campaign is well under way and motorists are being advised to pay particular attention if driving the next day.

Alcohol can stay in your blood stream for around twelve hours depending on the size of each person. With the lighter sunny evenings, the temptation to stop off and have a pint or glass of wine after work is stronger.

We all know not to drink and drive but it transpires many people come home and continue to drink that could mean they are over the limit the next day.

Recently these offences have increased, as has the number of gadgets to gauge your alcohol level the next day.

Halfords do a one off that is not cheap and a nightmare to even try and get open. The ones sold for around £4,99 at service stations are not that much better often giving false readings meaning some drivers have driven whist still over the limit, The best one that I have tested is AlcoSense and even comes with Sir Stirling Moss’s approval. Simple to use, you blow into the small machine and it gives out readings from low, meaning you are safe to drive going up to just under the limit, on the limit or twice over.

The AlcoSense has a quick sensor clean that is automatically performed after each breath test to keep the machine well literally clean.

The police obviously cannot recommend any such devices but at least with AlcoSense you have a clear indication whether you should or should not drive. Priced at £54.99 it may appear a bit pricey but not compared to the cost of losing your licence. Visit www.alcosense.co.uk or call 0800 195 0088
