The New Maserati Quattroporte 07 Range .. A ladies Car?
If you thought Maserati was a boys toy, then think again. With Jodie Kidd spearheading the campaign to entice females into the arms of a Maserati with not just her passion for performance car but also for racing them, Maseratis new range of Quattroporte for this year, just launched, has us ladies firmly in mind.
Without condescending or belittling us girlie drivers, the new Quattroporte, in three trims, Quattroporte, Quattroporte Sport GT and Executive is now available with two transmissions, the DuoSelect for him, with the paddles for the extra noise factor or the lovely relaxed Automatic for us, but with the high performance ability in case we are challenged by jealous on lookers especially at traffic lights.
But is Jodie Kidd really kidding us about Maserati cars or should they stay in the male hall of fame? Not totally convinced, I attended the UK launch of these models at Millbrook training ground that has a vast array of different driving courses such as the high performance ring, one-mile stretch as well as local road driving.
Walking into the Masarati camp, I was greeted by a sea of Maserati's all so inviting, so full of opulence, style, passion and the wow factors keep hitting you over and over again the more you look at them, rather like the Vatican city. Must be something to do with Italian flair.
The exterior styling is so subtle in design with beautiful lines, gorgeous wheels with coloured brake callipers, a sumptuous grille nestling between the Bi-xenon headlights, yet quite un- assuming in its relationship as a high performance car. The Sport gives a few clues such as 20-inch 7-spoke alloy wheels and a sport GT badge on the front pillars, while the Executive GT has its own badge, 10-inch 9- spoke alloy wheels and chrome side grilles.
