Toyotas formidable 4x4 range has been given a boost this autumn with the introduction of the 2005 range Land Cruiser.
The entire range is to be updated for 2005 with improvements to Standard specifications and powertrain and enhanced performance and economy.
The revised range includes a spohisticated Sat Nav system on the flagship LC5 grade with Electronic Traffic Avoidance. which monitors real time traffic information to keep the 4X4 out of jams
The entire range will also now benefit fron cruise controll and a passenger seatbelt warning light.
The LC2 model has been deleted with the LC3, which gains leather steering wheel and gear knob covers and wood trim on the dashboard becoming the base model.
Both the LC4 and LC5 models will be fitted with a smart ne wheel cover for the tailgate mounted spare.
The transmissions for all Land Cruisers will also be improved with both the automatic and Manual gearboxes gaining and extra gear. At the same time, the already capable 3.0 litre Diesel engine has been revised and rebuilt, increasing maximum output to 165bhp and the 4.0 litre Petrol engine has been tweaked, margonally increasing power and economy.
The Hilix, which was already a hit with motorists has also been given a facelift. The option of the toyota approved power upgrade chip, the performance of the 2.5 D-4D engine can be made smarter, too. Output rises from 102 to 128bhp and maximum torque from 260 to 300Nm.
The chip upgrade costs £595, excluding VAT and fitting.
The Hiace is also going to be getting a facelift with 280 short wheelbase and 300 long wheelbase models replacing the existing S and SE models. Central locking, Cloth seat trim, and a new colour to the range
All new models will be available in the UK from the 1st of October.
