Toyota has taken the Top Spot at the AA/ALD Automotive MPG Marathon, this year with an astounding Fuel Economy of 83.44mpg, from the Aygo. Twenty Percent better than the Aygos official combined figure of 68.9mpg.
The MPG Marathon, run by Stag Publications, involved completing 360 miles from Bristol to Newquay over different types of road. The results were judged on the consumption achieved along with the percentage improvement obtained in relation to the official consumption figure for each car.
By Driving Skillfully and carefully, drivers can increase their cars Fuel Economy by up to 20%, reducing CO2 emmissions at the same time. The Marathon, although run for Company car Drivers is becoming more and more relevant for private motorists, with the increasing cost of fuel.
Also taking a top spot in the race was the Toyota Avensis 2.2 D-4D, which showed the best improvement over the official combined figure, achieving 68.2mpg.
Ross Durkin, Managing Editor of Fleet World magazine added, This is a great result both for Toyota and for the two drivers. Their achievement clearly demonstrates that skilful drivers use less fuel. Whether you are a member of the public with one car - or a fleet manager with 500 - cutting your annual fuel bill by this sort of margin must be an attractive proposition.
