Anna Karenina

Anna Karenina

Anna Karenina looks set to be one of the must see dramas of 2012 and the movie is already surrounded by Oscar whispers.

Joe Wright is in the director's chair for the movie in what will be his first film since the explosive Hanna back in 2011.

We wet your appetite for the movie earlier this week with some clips and now we have even more to share with you the weekend before the movie is due for release:

Joe Wright is one of the most exciting filmmakers around at the moment and he really knows how to adapt a novel to the big screen.

He has already enjoyed success with Pride and Prejudice and Atonement - as he balances his own interpretation with staying true to the core story and characters.

Leo Tolstoy's novel Anna Karenina is the latest movie that Wright is going to bring to life as he reunites with Keira Knightley - who will play the title character.

Aaron Johnson and Jude Law will join the Oscar nominated actress on the cast list.

I suppose that it is a little early to be talking about Oscar contenders but there is no doubt that this movie has the potential to be a major player when the awards season rolls around - and believe me it is scarely not that far away.

The story unfolds in its original late-19th-century Russia high-society setting and powerfully explores the capacity for love that surges through the human heart, from the passion between adulterers to the bond between a mother and her children.

As Anna (Knightley) questions her happiness, change comes to her family, friends, and community.

Anna Karenina is released 7th September
