Avengers Assemble

Avengers Assemble

2012 has been a fantastic year if you are a movie fan as there have been blow your mind blockbusters and powerful dramas hitting the big screen all year.

We have been counting down the top ten Best Movies of 2012 and it has been hard to narrow down that top ten as there has just been so many great films to choose from.

But we have reached the #1 spot and Avengers Assemble has been named the Best Movie of 2012.

When an unexpected enemy emerges that threatens global safety and security, Nick Fury, Director of the international peacekeeping agency known as S.H.I.E.L.D., finds himself in need of a team to pull the world back from the brink of disaster. Spanning the globe, a daring recruitment effort begins.

Avengers Assemble was a movie that I was both super excited for as well as a little bit nervous about mainly because of all the characters and stories that were contained in it.

Could Joss Whedon give all the characters ample screen time, tell their individual stories as well as pull off the threads of the film's story line together successfully?

And while this was the worry for many Marvel fans Whedon pulled it off without even batting an eyelid - he really was the man for the job.

He has managed to go big when it comes to the action and yet intimate when it comes to the characters and the relationships that are forged throughout the film.

To pull off relationships in a movie you need a great cast and that is exactly what we got with Avengers Assemble as everyone is on top for.

Robert Downey Jr is his usual sarcastic and humorous self and he really does have some of the best lines in the movie. He has a real observational humour that works incredibly well.

Chris Evans' Captain America is still adjusting to life in the 21st Century and to see Evans and Downey Jr go head to head - the selfless Steve Rogers and the selfish Tony Stark.

But the star that shines the brightest in this movie is Mark Ruffalo as we see him as The Hulk for the very first time. He is a character who has clearly come a long way since we saw him last and is attempting to come to terms with who and what he is.

Ruffalo brings a real charm, charisma and strength to the role of Bruce Banner that we have never seen in this character before.

Motion capture has been used so Ruffalo could really play the Hulk and you can see aspects of the actor come through into the big green rage machine and that works wonderfully.

Avengers Assemble is one of the most ambitious movies of the year and they really do pull it off as it is visually spectacular.

The battle in New York is one of the great set pieces you will have seen this year what Marvel have achieved with this film is simply staggering.

Avengers Assemble is well and truly up there with The Dark Knight as one of the best comic book movies of all time - however it is very different in tone to the Christopher Nolan film.

These two films have really paved the way with how great superhero movies can be and they have set the bar.

Avengers Assemble is an action packed funny movie that brings together a great bunch of characters and actor who really deliver.

We may have waited some time for an Avengers movie but it was well worth it and I am already excited about the sequel.
